Meet the Hobo In Paris Authors
Ever wonder who writes all of this Hobo In Paris trash?
Well, here they are:
Mollie Coyne writes three Hobo In Paris columns—French Tease, Outbound Train and The Grub Hub. Mollie is from South Carolina, USA and moved to France from New York in 2003. Mollie lives in lovely Ivry-sur-Seine, just outside of the 13th arrondissement, with her husband Andy and their 2.4 children, Lisa, Bart and Maggie.
Jimmy Trout writes Tumbleweed and is a native of Pointe de la Hache, Louisiana, USA. Jimmy has spent most of his adult life and a good part of his childhood living a non-traditional, itinerant lifestyle. Now he’s taking his hobo show on the road in Europe for the first time and sharing his adventures with us.
Isabel Ortiz writes Treading Perrier and is from the Coyoacán section of Mexico City, Mexico, but spent most of her childhood living in California, USA. She is a financial analyst and is the most well-heeled expat among our contributors, having been sent abroad by her employer, a leading international investment bank, on stints in Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Santiago and Bangalore.
Martin Lowe writes Shadow on the City of Light and has spent his career in Europe and the USA doing such things as photographing Whiskas® cat food cats with Dimitri Tolstoy (the great grandson), auditing lingerie stores, and publishing a floral art book (www.newlandsbook.com). He landed back in Paris one freezing, foggy, offworldly morning in January 2005 ... TBC.
Gwen
Moore, a native of the Upper East Side of New York City, spent her
junior year of college in Paris and has recently found a new excuse to
move back, under the guise of gainful employment. Her contract might
not be renewed, so she's trying to discover Paris' secrets as fast as
she can.
Brian Van der Horst writes 21st Century Dharma Bum and has worked in journalism as an editor and columnist for Playboy, New Realities, Practical Psychology, and The Village Voice. He is the author of the books Folk Music in America, Rock Music, and The Outcome Strategy and over 1,000 magazine and newspaper articles for Viva, Omni, Cosmopolitan, and The International Herald Tribune, among others. He has also been an acquisitions editor for J.P. Tarcher Books, Houghton-Mifflin, and hosted a television program in San Francisco. He currently writes for Intelligence, a newsletter on neuro-computing. He has lived in Europe since 1984.
Guest contributors:
A native of bonnie Scotland, Alison Reynolds has been living in Paris since the year 2000, interrupted once by a short spell as an expat on the Russian island of Sakhalin. She lives in the 15ème and loves all things French with the exception of saucisson and rude Parisians!
Karen Henrich spends her time between Paris, France and Vancouver, Canada, running a tour company (www.NuitBlancheTours.com) and writing. Karen pens Paris Café, a newsletter letting readers live vicariously in the City of Light, and is a contributing writer for TripAdvisor.com, Journeywoman.com, Bonjour Paris and Paris Woman.
Banlieue Bubba is a Kansan at heart, but has been far from the heartland for a good long while. Having fallen victim to the guile of a French temptress many moons ago, he has whiled away several decades under her spell and that of her village in the southern suburbs of Paris.
Andy Coyne is from South Carolina, USA. He lives in Ivry-sur-Seine with his wife Mollie and their three children. Andy is an attorney at Crédit Agricole Asset Management, is the founder of Expats Paris and serves as a board member of the Association of Americans Resident Overseas.
